Over the past 30 years technological advances have played an essential role in the development of the farming industry. These advances have brought faster and more money and time efficient techniques of farming about. Accurate methods have been developed for specific AI, to develop offspring with desired traits, which include being less susceptible to certain diseases, and higher meat production. Besides new breeding methods, futuristic fencing methods have been invented and are currently being trialled at the Armidale University. Collars are placed on cattle and sheep which keep them in a farmer’s desired location, without having to use any form of fence, only electrical pulses, sent between a series of four posts. Armidale University are also thinking of ways to reduce methane gases that are produced by cattle to protect the environment.
